New features in our drag 'n drop email editor
Our drag 'n drop e-mail editor is very user-friendly, yet we are always looking for improvements. Therefore, we have slightly modified our drag 'n drop e-mail editor. We have added some nice features that will make the creation of your newsletter even faster. I would like to take you through the new features and how you can use them to compose your newsletter.
What features are new in the email editor?
A number of minor adjustments have been made to make marketing life in Reloadify significantly easier. For instance, we introduced a List block and a Paragraph block in the email editor. These blocks replace the original text block. However, the text block remains available. So you may choose for yourself what you like to use. Why are we doing this, you may wonder. We want to make it easier for you to format the newsletter, by giving you the specific choice of creating a list or a paragraph.
In addition to these features, we have made several improvements for the best user experience. For example, you can now see that you have control over the font weight. On the right side of the editor, you can now see multiple font weights from the same font family.
Also, the text toolbar has changed slightly. We have added buttons for inserting spaces, clearing formatting and inserting special characters.
Text toolbar
We have split the text toolbar. For example, when you select a title, the text toolbar above it only shows the character format. To the side, in the content area, you can see the font family and font weight options. This change makes editing text more pleasant, as you don't have to select the text manually. This is easier to do via the sidebar.
The sidebar now looks like this in the e-mail editor:
Nice! But what is the difference between the letter weight option and the bold option in the text toolbar? The text toolbar above the selected content block applies the option to the text you select. When you use the options in the sidebar, it applies to the entire content block. An example is shown below.
The paragraph block
It is now possible to add a paragraph block to your newsletter instead of a whole text block. This block supports any number of paragraphs of any length, sharing the same content formatting (such as font family, font size and font weight). Have you ever lost formatting while working in a text block? With the paragraph block, this is impossible and therefore offers a good solution. This is partly due to the fact that you no longer select text, but rather adjust it via the sidebar. What is also good to know: copy-pasting your text works much better in the paragraph block. Without going into technical details: the parameters in the block manage this better. In particular, italics and hyperlinks are preserved when cutting and pasting your text in Reloadify. The block ultimately determines which font family, size and weight you will paste your text into. Below is an example of a paragraph block. With your font options on the right.
The list block
Who doesn't like lists? It has never been easier to create lists in your newsletter. Drag the option 'list' into your newsletter and you will get a numbered list in front of you. The list block contains all the specifications of the paragraph block (so you can copy and paste). The list block contains different styles of lists, so choose one that suits your business. Spacing and indentation is also manageable. There is even a 'start from' option for numbered lists. Very handy!
Below is an example of a bullet point list:
Extra in the email editor (for advanced users)
You may already have noticed it. In your toolbar above your text you have a plus with a line under it:
This is called a non-breaking space. This space looks like a normal space. But it works like a magnet between two words. If your words don't fit together on one line, a non-breaking space moves them to the next line. Actually, this option adds a layer of control to your text when a space is missing, because it seems unnecessary in the layout of your newsletter. Your text will be truncated, as it were. This often happens on mobile phones. The screen is smaller and so your text is moved to the next line sooner. I have an example of this. In the example below you can see how your text is cut off on a smaller screen. Your title looks a bit strange this way.
Now we add a non-breaking space so that we can decide for ourselves where the line may break off. This looks like this:
As you can see, your title reads much better now, as you have added a non-breaking space to the word 'how'. This way, you can be sure that your text will read comfortably on a smaller screen, too.
Now that you know what's new and how it works, you can format your newsletter even faster. This will leave you time for other important things. Handy, huh?
